The Body as Monument
The Body as Monument is a talks & classes event at El Centro Chicano in Palo Alto on Thursday, November 5 at 11:30 AM.
About this event
Chicana/o-Latina/o Studies and El Centro are thrilled to welcome Jess Sabogal, a cuir Colombian - American muralistx and printmaker from San Francisco whose large-scale public artworks attempt to document and disrupt. In this artist talk, Jess Sabogal maps a two-decade creative evolution, expanding from the monumental scale of muralismo and printmaking into intimate self-portraiture and sculpture. Guided by the relationships and histories that sustain their practice, Sabogal examines the shifting weight of an artist’s responsibility.
